Abstract:
The Oracle Academy helps more than 2.5 million students in 102 countries gain the computer science skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers. Oracle Academy works with Ministries of Education, education authorities, governments and educational institutions worldwide to provide computer science curriculum, resources, and teacher/faculty training that are truly fit for purpose in today’s digital era.

Through partnerships and direct engagement, and working in collaboration with Oracle Giving and Oracle Volunteers, our work covers the whole spectrum of the educational system – from primary school to university – and is driven by the belief that students of any age, gender and background will benefit greatly from developing modern computer science skills.

Oracle Academy curricula and resources are tailored to help students develop skills relevant to today’s job market. Technology drives the modern global economy, and through our corporate citizenship efforts we work to create a skills pipeline that will expand this economy and support the entire Oracle ecosystem, including our customers, partners, and all those who rely on technology for everyday comfort and convenience. To help teachers inspire the next generation to take up computer science, we have developed a rich library of open educational resources that can be easily incorporated into existing class structures. They enable teachers to bring the latest technology developments straight from R&D labs into the classroom in ways that students find rewarding and stimulating.

Computer Science Education Is Important:
At Oracle, we believe that every student everywhere should have access to good computer science education. More students need to enter the computer science pipeline at younger ages – arguably as young as elementary school – and be served over the course of their educational careers by a continuous curriculum pathway into computer science that includes math, computational thinking, and problem solving. Computer science is a rigorous academic discipline that must be mastered over a number of years. The skills learned transcend most modern professions and are fundamental to college and career readiness and 21st century literacy.
