Abstract:
Our classrooms and institutions are involved in a huge technological revolution nowadays. At the present time, everything related to new technology: gaming, flipped learning or virtual classes, are becoming the main pedagogical method. Although they seem modern and contemporary ideas, these methods have their roots in proposals such as the heuristic of Aristotle or John Dewey pedagogical and aesthetic thinking.

Without question, this technology revolution, that surrounds all areas of western society, has helped to facilitate a new point of view in teaching and to widen the possibilities of learning and connection between different areas of knowledge. But, is technology (new technology) the correct way to develop the present idea of teaching? Have we forgot the important idea of personal effort? Is the project-based learning a revolutionary idea, or it is only a failed step forward? Trying to answer these questions, we would like to show that nowadays, creativity is more important, as a teaching tool, than technology. Therefore, it seems that art, and moreover art education, should be essential tools in teaching in this new era.

This lecture aims to show the possibilities for embedding art and creativity into teaching, and understand the role of new technology related to art education. How art educators might embed technology and understand possible challenges you may face as a teacher using technology.
