Abstract:

This paper presents ARTchives, a digital platform designed to enhance access, organization and exploration of academic resources for postgraduate students and educators in fields related to the art market, museum studies and cultural management. These disciplines face persistent challenges: limited availability of specialized studies, fragmented access to high quality materials and the prevalence of unreliable online content. ARTchives responds to these needs by offering a curated digital environment where all resources are academically validated, trustworthy and contextually grounded. The platform supports the development of critical digital literacy skills while guiding students through rigorous research processes, including the preparation of high quality Master’s Final Projects.

ARTchives integrates three core tools. The first is a specialized news search engine that uses carefully selected keywords to capture updated and relevant information from the art market, helping students distinguish between reliable and low rigor sources. The second is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC, Massive Open Online Course) that provides step by step guidance on how to design, structure and present a TFM, combining shared methodological content with tailored modules aligned with different programme specializations. The third is a curated virtual library that includes academic publications and exemplary TFMs whose authors have granted permission for dissemination, offering models of quality and fostering continuous improvement across cohorts.

The platform’s intuitive interface enables users to explore resources through simple or advanced filters, using keywords, categories and subcategories that accommodate both introductory and specialized research needs. Recently added materials are highlighted on the main page to encourage discovery and ongoing engagement. Each search result presents essential metadata, and detailed views allow users to access summaries and download files, promoting seamless integration of materials into coursework, seminars and research projects.

By combining user centred design, reliable content and continuous evaluation through student and faculty feedback, ARTchives contributes to balancing the diverse academic backgrounds of postgraduate learners. It strengthens analytical, methodological and curatorial competencies, supports autonomous learning and positions itself as a scalable tool for broader educational ecosystems.
