Abstract:
This study investigated the use of internet resources among academic staff and students in private colleges of education in Lagos state, Nigeria. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 3 private colleges of education in Lagos state while 86 participants (30 academic staff and 56 students) were selected through simple random sampling technique. Two questionnaires were administered to elicit responses from the staff and students. Results of the analysis reveal that there is a significant difference in academic staff and students’ use of internet resources in private colleges of education in Lagos state, Nigeria. The analysis further shows that male staff and students in private colleges of education significantly use internet resources more than their female staff and students. The study recommends improved use of internet resources among academic staff and students irrespective of gender to facilitate effective research, teaching and learning in higher institutions in Nigeria. In addition, it suggests that private owners of colleges of education in Lagos state, internet providers and government at all levels should implement capacity training programmes, provide internet resources and reduce charges to enhance use of internet resources among academic staff and students.
