Abstract:
The article aims to analyze the skills and competences of computer engineering students. The study is based on three main bases: one that describes the competences of the graduate in our university, another which analyzes the ones required by business or in the professional world and the third is the competences self-evaluation made by the students.

The methodology: Our data on competences comes from the self-evaluation of competences by a sample of 24 university students in compute engineering at the University of Girona (Academic year 2009-2010). To make the evaluation we use an ICT-based tool called Cycloid that evaluates their social and personal competences in the field of project manager. The system asks a total of 120 questions that are summarized on 30 competences. We compare the results with the competences defined by the university and with the ones found on computer engineering working calls.
