Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to propose a research methodology focused on assessing the competency of public sector personnel to operate effectively within a secure and safe workplace. The methodology applied in this study is grounded in a survey research approach that specifically targets individuals working in public cyberspace. Based on the analysed survey results, the authors suggest solutions for education and improving the competences and ethical behavior of users in in the virtual world and increase their cyber awareness. As a realization of the proposed methodology, the authors introduce a developed Cyber Awareness informational and educational portal. Its primary objective is to ensure information and resources concerning cybersecurity and information security in order to serve as educational portal and the central hub for accessing knowledge in this domain as well as to support user ethical behaviour in a modern virtual environment. The online platform additionally offers users to evaluate their proficiency in cybersecurity-related subjects, engage in public surveys pertaining to cybersecurity, as well as disseminate and interchange information, perspectives, and efficacious methodologies concerning cyber incidents and cybersecurity expertise.
