Abstract:
Knowing the issue of learning styles and their application in education can significantly affect the quality of education. There are several theories about learning styles, with the article focusing on Sensory Preference Learning Style Classifications (VARK). Quality education is a decisive source of future development, prosperity and competitiveness of the Slovak Republic as well.

Based on current knowledge, there are several options for achieving a high level of education quality in the Slovak Republic. The aim of the paper is to present the classification of learning styles according to sensory preferences, with a focus on higher education, based on knowledge obtained from domestic and foreign scientific and professional publications, focused on didactics.

Using the method of analysis and comparison, the first part of the article focuses on the stages of human ontogenesis in connection with learning. The second part of the article presents the classification of learning styles according to sensory preferences and the possibility of its use to establish recommendations that both students and teachers can use in their practice when implementing the teaching process.
