Abstract:
In our paper we present some remarks on the research methodology in the field of Game Based Learning (GBL) in mathematics education. GBL is a very discussed and promising technology for improvement of mathematics teaching and learning. Therefore, a lot of research in this area is conducted. We base our remarks on the meta-analysis of selected researches in this field. Our focus lies on the methodology for surveying various aspects of GBL usage and its pros and cons.

Most common domains of GBL evaluation are students' achievements and theirs attitudes towards used teaching technology. We also study impacts of the GBL on broader aspects, like attitudes towards teaching subject (in our case mathematics) and general attitudes towards educational process. Each of these aspects need specific methodological considerations and we will speak about them in our paper.

Because of its content, we believe that our paper can be beneficial for researchers and educators with the interest in the GBL in mathematics education. Discussed methodologies and our research recommendations can be useful also for everyone with the aim of conducting research on GBL in any other fields.
