Abstract:
In the article, the authors introduce the issue of school readiness while they focus on social skills. They present partial results of a research – in the area of abilities and skills linked to the work with peers and to co-operate which is one of the areas linked to the social readiness. The observation and dialogue were selected as the main research methods. These research methods were used directly in the environment of kindergartens (pre-schools). A research tool in a form of record sheet was composed as well while it was focused on the area of co-working with the peers. The aim of the research was to discover problem areas of children’s readiness to start school attendance and also the most frequently occurring obstacles in the course of children’s co-operation. Furthermore, it also strived to point out problems which should be also studied via researches. The findings may serve to a deeper understanding of the researched issue while it also may become an indicator for pre-school teachers while it may imply what should be developed among the pre-school children. Last but not least, the findings may also be beneficial for students of pre-school education study branches. Keywords:
