Abstract:
Security research is an integral part of security education, which is taught at selected universities in Slovakia and abroad. Given the common past, it can be said that the Czech Republic is close to security research in the Slovak Republic. The aim of the article is to confirm or refute this idea by analyzing the research activities of individual entities engaged in security research in both countries. The identification will determine the numbers and funding of security research projects as well as the identification of grant opportunities in each country.

Through identification, it should be possible to point out the direction of security research in individual countries and their readiness to respond to current national as well as international challenges posed by digitization. Digitization brings with it possibilities how to transform object security to a higher, more modern level. Part of the article will be the identification of the readiness of individual subjects in terms of material and spatial equipment for possible new challenges in security research in the next decade.
