Abstract:
The use of experiential learning activities with gamification techniques designed from a video analysis to teach Biology promote learners critical thinking by meaningful activities where learners watch a tutorial or video in the laboratory with a selected educational sources. They observe, analyze, design, develop and code educational games. Those activities are divided in three steps: Observe to analyze, Design the educational game and explore the game. In the first step, students consolidate previous knowledge while watching and listening documentaries to write a video analysis report to develop an educational game. Second, learners design a storyboard to code the educational game, edit pictures in the laboratory using the microscope and other source, write instructions in the game and design a learner target game to facilitate students learning process by coding; and finally; evaluate the learner strategies, scientific methods and experiential learning process while playing with a rubric assessment tool.
