Abstract:
Introduction:
This communication shows the implementation of a technology innovation that has become key for the development of modern engineering worldwide: immersive virtual reality, introducing it into the metaverse of the building, allowing future building professionals to relate to technology that will be in common use in the short term.

Objective:
The objective is for students to learn how to use new virtual reality technologies in building. All the plans for the building of the Higher Technical School of Building (ETSEM) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in its current situation will be drawn with BIM modeling technologies. By carefully studying parts of the building, studies of different phases will be carried out with the vision in virtual reality, introducing it into the metaverse of the building.
The competencies that will be developed in this work are, on the one hand, the student's learning to draw buildings with BIM technologies, in addition to the knowledge of the students in terms of new technologies of virtual reality and, on the other hand, the introduction of students into the world of a metaverse in building.

Methodology
The methodology will be predominantly practical. Students will create plans of the building and then differentiate the different phases with vision in virtual reality by introducing it into the metaverse of the building.
The innovation will be carried out with 5 students from four different courses (Degree in Building, Double Degree in Building and ADE, Masters and Doctoral Thesis) from the Higher Technical School of Building, with a total of 24 participating students. The implementation is proposed based on a common activity in the subjects "Architectural Drawing", "Drawing of Details", and "Final Project of Degree", taught during the first and second semesters of the indicated studies.

Project Phases
The activity will be carried out in several phases:
1.- Modelling, with BIM technologies, of the plans of the ETSEM-UPM building.
2.- Visualization of the building with virtual reality.
3.- Introduction to the metaverse of the building.
4.- Teaching and dissemination tools.
5.- Possible conclusions.

The activities can be carried out in the defined subjects, "Architectural Drawing", "Drawing of Details", and "Final Project of Degree", since the review of projects combine the traditional way with the indicated methodology.

The completion of the activities leads to obtaining a document about the building that enables the development of future studies for improving facilities, energy efficiency, or the maintenance of the building itself, thus helping future generations.

This contributes to the improvement of the preservation of the building as it can contribute to the achievement of some of the SDGs (6-11-12) by improving its construction conditions and characteristics for sustainable optimization.

In general, the deviation associated with the accuracy of the review of the projects in their analogy and digital versions tends to be greater in virtual reality. The combination of training methods that link conventional methods with virtual reality allows results that improve the visual inspection of an element, and the introduction into the Metaverse makes it easier to understand the building.
