Abstract:
The numerous scandals and examples of business misbehaviors during the last years have attracted public opinion's attention under the role of business higher education in these problems. The literature wisdom is unanimous highlighting the impact of individual academic training in the organizational running of companies and institutions. Managers' attitudes and behaviors can be significantly modified through a curriculum syllabus that incorporates the analysis and discussion of the consequences of unethical business behavior. Using a sample of 480 students from 4 business-related university studies, we explore the opportunities of reducing ethical problems in business behaviors using different activities based on gamification to introduce ethical issues in the higher education curricula. Our results confirm the suitability and the good reception of these practices from the students' point of view and explore the specific content and issues in order to promote and maximize ethical decision-making. These results have important implications for policymakers and higher education institutions who have important responsibilities and opportunities to avoid future business scandals.
