Abstract:
The study orientation of pupils and students presents the recent problem of education nowadays in Slovakia because of the fact that primary school pupil’s interests are mainly oriented to general education direction of study. They are losing interest for vocational technical education. The stated fact presents a serious problem, since no society can dispense without technically educated people. Therefore the question is what fundamentally motivates pupils in their choice of study orientation? The identification of factors influencing the choice of field of study and later the choice of professional orientation of pupils is one of the aims of the planned research of the project solution KEGA 021UKF-4/2018: Creation of learning materials supporting the orientation of primary school pupils to study programs of a technical nature. In the article, we present a survey of results of the selected researches carried out so far in the territory of the Slovak Republic in order to analyze the factors influencing the choice of pupils study direction.
