Abstract:
This paper describes the case study carried out in the course “Efficient Use of Energy “ by 3rd year students of Electrical Engineering and Electronics ¨Degree. Training project consisted on improving energy efficiency in a real environment, a tertiary sector company in Veracruz, Mexico. Students visited the company to carry out an energy audit with the supervision and advice of several professors. During the development of the activity, students developed the specific competences of the course by monitoring and measuring energy parameters in a real environment and elaborating the audit report delivered to the company. Students analyzed and characterized the facility, and then defined and measured key energy indicators to identify potential energy savings for the company. Audit reports included an estimation of the benefits associated to energy, economic, environmental and social of the proposed improvement actions. Based on the energy project, students developed specific and transversal competencies while they obtained a better understanding of the course and lived a real experience in the industry environment.
