Abstract:
The contribution will focus on creating educational games, based on role-playing ideas, and their implementation into the teaching process. The concept of the university´s course, in the framework of which students of the teacher's study programme (preservice teachers) are prepared for the creation and implementation of games for teaching in high schools, will be described. In addition to the theoretical basis of the course, which includes a background on the creation of educational games, their importance, a comparison of the purpose of games and competitions in teaching, the main activity is the design and implementation of educational games in lessons. Student outputs will also be presented – created role-playing games, the primary educational area of which is mathematics with the overlap into the science subjects. In groups, the students defined the target group, the educational areas that are implemented in the game, either in the form of practicing or gaining new knowledge, the structure of the game and the plan of player´s progress, an analysis before and after game and the methodology for the teachers. The pilot version of the games was tested and upgraded using the students´ peer-review feedback.
