Abstract:
The article examines the methodology and research of teaching methods in the "information security" disciplines. The training in the specialty "Information Security" is based on the growing need for the formation of expertise, allowing an adequate response and effective action in the direction of ensuring security in cyber space. It focuses on countermeasures against potential cyber-attacks. Attention has been paid to the methodology for safe online surfing. In the "information security" discipline, students examine and analyze the types of threats and the methodologies for dealing with them. For a society to be protected from potential cyber-attacks, it needs well-prepared personnel. Exercises were developed, with students divided into two groups, one using a vulnerable and non-secure environment, and the second group using the techniques presented in the article. When performing the exercise, the students analyze the traffic and process the results obtained, and as the number of exercises progresses, the students acquire algorithmic thinking skills when applying modern data protection methods.

The authors of the article provide a methodology for researching vulnerabilities in computer systems and networks. In this context, emphasis is placed on one of the main problems, namely ensuring the protection of information. Attention is paid to the types of threats and vulnerabilities. Students have developed skills to recognize phishing and locate it.

Digitization and continuous technological progress make the online space increasingly attractive to cybercriminals and hackers, and all of us increasingly vulnerable. The pace of development of the environment, especially in the last few years, and the fact that during the pandemic everything started to happen online, led to a boom in cybercrime. This has logically led to a hunger for well-trained personnel to take care of our safety and that of our data online. The problem of protecting and preserving the confidentiality of personal and business information is of critical importance on a global scale. With the advent of new technologies, most of the cybercrimes committed are based on weak points and vulnerabilities in computer networks and systems. Malicious actors are constantly finding weaknesses and new ways to bypass the security mechanisms implemented. The main goal of the cybercriminal is to perform a scan of the host machine with obtaining important business, service, or user information that will help him to remotely access the information resources of the running operating system. Every day, cyberattacks cause damage such as stealing electronic identity documents, unauthorized electronic withdrawal and transfer of money, malicious intrusion into computer systems to steal confidential information, installation of spyware programs that monitor a user's every activity on the Internet, sending malicious emails with special scripted email links intended to be opened by the user to gain remote access to their victim's computer system. That is why the issue of cyber security is of particular significance and importance.
