Abstract:
Due to the threat of COVID-19 academics of TTK University of Applied Sciences had to cancel all face-to-face classes and move their courses to remote learning. The aim of this study is to examine university students' view on the remote teaching process in the field of science and to find out the factors that influenced learning the most.

The qualitative survey was conducted among the engineering students. The data were analyzed by content analysis. The analysis revealed four main categories. As the most important category appeared the way of conducting the lessons. The students considered it important to conduct lectures online in real-time, record lectures and follow the lesson plan by the teacher. Communication and mentoring also emerged from students' responses, with learners emphasizing the need for responses from the teacher, online real-time consultations, comprehensive information sharing and feedback from the teacher. The category of e-learning environment and learning activities includes the keywords use of unified environments, availability of materials, flexible assessment. Students also mentioned keywords related to the learner and teacher, such as the teacher's personality traits, necessary learning and teaching skills, restrictions on participation in the learning process. The results of the study help to understand the learners’ view on remote learning and to plan and conduct future studies in a student supportive way.
