Abstract:
Among the transversal skills that engineering students have to develop, abilities for oral communication and teamwork play a key role. For this reason, an effort is being made for developing these skills in several subjects related to thermal engineering in both Degree and Master students at University of Zaragoza. During academic course 2018/19, several activities were planned and developed: workshops on teamwork and on oral communication, development of subject work including oral presentation, evaluation taking into account these skills and sometimes including co-evaluation, and assessment of the experience by using surveys among students as well as observation cards. Due to the success of this experience, effort continues during the present course 2019/20 but introducing some improvements: additional effort is made in order to enrol students, more focus is put on oral communication and, last but not least, other subjects and professors have been also involved. Some results are presented that show how students evaluate positively not only the additional formation presented in the workshops but also the use of evaluation of oral presentations as part of the mark of their subjects.
