Abstract:
The present school system does not cater for students with different educational needs. It is in particular not giving fair chances of success to students with special needs, does not support their development and therefore does not allow them to reach full potential and to prepare them for independent life.
Alternative programmes are based on neurological development and combine physical activities with intellectual development. There are different approaches that are used, but they require different educational process which is not possible in the regular education system. Home-schooling can be an effective alternative.
Preparation of appropriate educational materials is a resource demanding process as it requires production of high quality educational materials from different areas. To cope with the challenges, a network of parents that are facing the same problem was established and provide collaborative effort to prepare materials that are used by individual parents according to their needs.
Paper will present the methodology that is used in preparation of the curriculum, preparation of materials and experiences with establishment of the network of parents.
