Abstract:
The Course-Zero, classically based on e-learning platforms is widely used in Spanish Universities to help students to overcome the gap existing between Secondary and Higher Education. A student can follow this course as a precollege introduction for first course graduate matters.
The use of Corse-Zero’s is widespread in Engineering Faculties to complain the first course graduate matters which are common to all engineering studies: chemistry, math, physics, informatics and economy introductory contents are common. Most of Course-Zero’s are html web based. At the University of Vigo, Claroline platform is the supporting tool.
In this case, steps given for the reformation of a SCORM, htm based Chemistry Course-Zero for a Chemical Engineering Faculty, are described. The objective was to get a mobile devices based one that could be used online (as before) or offline (mobile devices).
In addition in order to reinforce the subjects and to take advantage of mobile devices capabilities, combined with html text, knowledge pills and quizzes were included. Knowledge Pills are multimedia reusable learning objects (mrlo’s), 1024 P+P format were a lecturer explains a subject for a time no longer than ten minutes. Quizzes were introduced because students claim for a feedback.
