Abstract:
There is an urgent need to include teaching active methodologies in technical studies such as engineering. Flipped classroom methodologies for practical lessons in manufacturing engineering subjects present several advantages such as student interest increment and concepts learning before the lesson.

On the other hand, it is also a good practice to enhance research by improving synergy between research projects and teaching. This applies in particular to the teaching of Engineering Manufacturing Technologies.

In this work, the usage of surface roughness prediction models is thought in practical lessons that have been previously introduced to students through flipped classroom. In this way, students observe themselves the influence of different geometrical and cutting parameters on the surface quality from the theoretical and practical point of view.
