Abstract:
This study investigated school factors as correlates of parents’ choice of school for children with hearing impairment in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria. A sample of one hundred and twenty (120) parents of children with hearing impairment was purposively sampled for the study. Two null hypotheses were formulated to direct the study. A twenty (20) item questionnaire with a four-point rating scale and reliability coefficient of 0.70 to 0.75 was used to collate opinions of parents on the relationship between school factors and parental choice of school for children with hearing impairment. The data collected were statistically analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis. The findings revealed that school factors such as learning facilities and teachers’ quality have a relationship with parental choice of school for children with hearing impairment. The author recommends among others that Government and education entrepreneurs should be committed to providing quality education by ensuring the availability of quality human and material resources in schools.
