Abstract:
Nowadays, we hear more and more about the use of drones in logistics. Drones were originally developed and used by the military industry for their purposes. Commercial companies have recognised the huge potential of drones. If driverless cargo drones become commercially available, a new chapter in logistics will begin. Since the IoT's proliferation, everyone from startups to large logistics companies has been working hard to develop a solution with wide applicability. A lot of companies are working on developing drones to make the most effective use of the opportunities that drones offer. The most common examples of advanced developments in this area are Amazon, Google, UPS and DHL. Drones support sustainability, as they are powered by electricity, do not emit harmful substances and replace environmentally polluting vehicles, which is not negligible. Age demands the need to teach drones in secondary schools and universities that are logistics oriented.

In this article, we present the potential applications of drones in logistics, focusing on secondary school and university education. We will present the applications such as delivery, warehouse inventory, access to hard-to-reach areas, etc. In teaching logistics in universities, we will point out the route planning and optimization of drones in terms of time and energy consumption, rules and ethics of drone transportation, sustainability.
