Abstract:
In Greek mythology, the immature King Sisyphus managed to cheat death twice. As punishment, he was forced to roll a boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down for all eternity. Just like Sisyphus, there are numerous individuals who get stuck in repetitive behaviors, not realizing that the only thing standing in between their true potential is understanding their minds. This research paper is aimed at helping undergraduate students as well as student-athletes learn more about the battle that occurs within the mind in order to help them achieve their full potential. This paper represents the efforts of a mechanical engineering student, who is also an athlete at the University of the District of Columbia, in exploring the impact of knowing positive intelligence on attitude and potential for self-improvement. Under his research, Positive Intelligence (PI) and PI components such as Saboteurs, Sage modes, PI quotient, and positive powers were introduced, taught, and explained to the sample population through means of individual conversations in order to collect the necessary data. This study provides and presents the needed insights to allow the undergraduate and student-athlete population to grow in understanding and capabilities to achieve success using their true potential by familiarizing with PI science.
