Abstract:
The notion of information systems (IS) reliability is discussed in the paper. Nowadays, when almost every Higher Education Institution (HEI) uses some kind of IS (not only for course and student management or remote learning environments but also for variety of emerging technologies in education), the reliability of ISs seems to be one of the key factors influencing its ability to function properly and achieve competitive advantage from using it. The notion of IS reliability in HEI is discussed. Definition of IS reliability in organization is proposed based on theoretical model of IS reliability in organization developed by the author. The proposed model is verified using the empirical research based on statistical analysis of factors building IS reliability in organizations operating in Poland. The analysis is based on survey conducted among 400 organizations from Poland. The verified model may be considered as a new tool for analysis of IS used in HEI in the context of its reliability and usefulness for the assumed purposes.
