Abstract:
The coronavirus crisis has presented Czech schools with an unexpected task, namely to provide distance education for students and pupils flexibly and urgently. There have turned out to be significant differences between schools and the level of teaching has varied greatly from school to school. At the same time, the necessity of using digital technologies has been shown to further increase the educational disadvantage of students from economically weaker families.
From the point of view of teachers, the need arose to adapt to a new teaching system and to focus flexibly on distance learning in short time. School principals have modified their school systems so as to be effective for students once again.
It has been shown in practice how we can use elements of on-line education, though the main goal of the school is not just for pupils and students to learn sets of knowledge. An essential task of the school is to make it a space for students from different families and social groups to meet and co-operate. The mission of schools is to uplift and shape the whole of society.
The paper deals with the effectiveness of distance education at a college in times of crisis. It presents data and information obtained by the on-line questionnaire method from students and teachers from a selected college in the Czech Republic. Keywords:
