Abstract:
The aim of foreign language teaching has been to achive the skills and behaviours-such as speaking, reading, writing and listening- which are directed towards perceiving and using the given language.
Through the process of language teaching, some measuring instruments are used to assess whether the acquired behaviours have been achieved or not. Measuring student success through the reliable instruments is very important to increase the standard of education to a higher point. Since education is a process of developing desirable behaviours in the individuals through their own experienced, the schools are the institutions which make and develop such behaviours through a plan tests used for education makes the assessment of the data which will be used in taking decisions related with students. As the reliability of the data increases the correctness of the decisions increases as well. Test are prepared by specialists, but they may sometimes be prepared individually as well. It is believed that the tests which are the instruments of evolution should be rethought and improved by means of validity, reliability, practicality so that the results of the tests could be used for the educational decisions those safely.
The findings of this study have shown that it is reliable to measure vocabulary and grammar shills through multiple-choice test items. It is also observed that the following factors effect the result of the test: the validity of the test, the period of the test and whether it is the second or the third foreign language-which is being learned, education and the reasons for learning that language. Language teachers should employ a pre-test to assess the test which they have prepared. In this way they can increase the validity of their tests and top taking wrong decisions. Keywords:
