Abstract:
Learning materials that include video and other multimedia have been proven beneficial not only in the distance and blended learning conditions but also as a motivational tool for younger generations. The benefits mostly depend on the quality of the videos and their presentation. Video material relies on human sight and hearing and as such depends on the physical ability of the students to perceive information in a certain way. Disability can be defined in a physical context like blindness or deafness, but also in a situational context like bright light or public transport. Video content has to be designed for different viewing/hearing conditions at every step of production. This study aims to design an EPUB standard ebook with accessible video content to make its information inclusive for all kinds of disabilities. The ebook created will present a universal design principle for video content. The technologies used are tested on different kinds of e-readers and platforms to show their current support.
