Abstract:
This study was conducted on using applications such as WhatsApp, Moviemaker and Facebook to produce and share visual, aural and written material between students and the teacher. Studying an instrument includes many occasions when student feels the need to be checked by the teacher. İn addition to regular lessons there was a need to find a way of communicating by sharing videos, sound clips and text messaging between student and the teacher. This study was conducted for several students in different levels; 1st year, 3rd year, 7th year and even for graduate students who are doing masters and doctoral degrees. Video and sound clips of the lessons, quick shot pictures of music and text messages were sent back and forth between students and teacher. Videos of lessons were reproduced with written comments inserted, teacher playing the pieces that are studied by students were also made available with spoken and written comments. All videos, sound clips and written material was investigated with qualitative research methods.

Videos and sound clips were collected and studied with content analysis some principles were derived from this data to make new instructions were shared with a larger group of students. All material was also shared and discussed with other string faculty to enhance the internal reliability. This study was made to take a first step to teach instrument using distance learning principles.
