BLOG TECHNOLOGY AS ONE OF THE PREFERRED MEANS OF TEACHING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN A SECONDARY SCHOOL

Abstract:
The introduction of new computer technologies in the field of education is currently one of the trends in the development of modern educational sciences.The use of the network services Web 2.0 platform in secondary schools is one of the preferred means of teaching a foreign language. The authors consider blog to be the productive technology in the Web 2.0 services currently available for teaching English vocabulary in secondary schools. The article deals with the concept, types and functions of the blog and is also characterizing this role in teaching English vocabulary in a secondary school classroom. The blog can be used at various levels of training from studying theoretical material to testing homework and virtual tours. The blog solves a number of didactic tasks to improvement of reading, writing and listening skills as well as enlarging the vocabulary and an increased interest and motivation to learn a foreign language. The authors claim that the main advantages of blog technology in teaching English for teachers are a) the use of non-traditional teaching methods; b) implementation of distance learning; c) organization of independent work of students; d) use of material prepared by students; e) building a dialogue between the teacher and the student. At the end of the article recommendations have been presented for organizing work with the blog in an English secondary school classroom. Results of the article could be used in planning the educational process with the use of this technology with application to theoretical courses in pedagogy.
