Abstract:
From non-academic point of view, written cultural heritage is cultural richness of a nation. It is a key-component of a national identity. We do preserve our written cultural heritage, because knowledge of the past helps us to understand the present. Higher education is key to the long-term preservation of our written literature. Students of the University of Library Science and Information Technology are actively involved in preservation, conservation and restoration, led by the idea that even a small part of the past to preserve and pass on to future generations, applying the art of postponing the inevitable will preserve our Bulgarian identity. Integration of good practices for better competencies in University of Library Science and Information Technology with the European achievements in the restoration and conservation of documents. The University today can and must retain knowledge of practical skills.
The report presents approaches in the field of the safeguarding of the written Cultural Heritage through education. The purpose of the paper is to describe the concept and present the results from the implementation of activities related to the conservation and restoration of original written cultural monuments by students at our university.
