It The university caters mainly for students of African origin, with the student population about 90% African students. Open day is an event held annually where high school students are exposed to the various degrees and diplomas offered by the university. The event is held at the University Sport Complex, where each department is allocated a stall, and where information pertaining the particular department is displayed. Each department has a number of staff and postgraduate students who talk to the students as they visit the stalls. The main aim of Open Day is to attract students to the university. The university has been hosting Open Days since 2010. This paper explores the satisfaction levels of high school students visiting SMU for open days, and gathers their perceptions regarding how the Open Day events could be improved for more effectiveness.
