Abstract:
Using Microsoft Excel is a transferable skill that increases students' employability on the modern job market. Among the skills acquired through the usage of Excel are data analysis, problem-solving and critical thinking which are in high demand by various industries and roles. Ensuring that students possess the essential skills to succeed in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world is a critical responsibility for universities in the 21st century. Although many programs have integrated excel into their curriculums, few have done so in a coordinated manner between courses and academic years.

This paper proposes a methodology for incorporating Microsoft Excel effectively into an undergraduate curriculum. The methodology consists of three steps: firstly, the identification of Excel skills which are already incorporated into degree's courses; secondly, the design of a logically ordered programme of tutorials throughout the courses; thirdly, the preparation of methodological notes for instructors teaching these course. The methodology is illustrated within the context of an undergraduate degree in tourism at the University of the Balearic Islands.
