Abstract:
Using Microsoft Excel is a transferable skill that increases students' employability on the modern job market. Among the skills acquired through the usage of Excel are data analysis, problem-solving and critical thinking which are in high demand by various industries and roles. Ensuring that students possess the essential skills to succeed in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world is a critical responsibility for universities in the 21st century. Although many programs have integrated excel into their curriculums, few have done so in a coordinated manner between courses and academic years.
This paper proposes a methodology for incorporating Microsoft Excel effectively into an undergraduate curriculum. The methodology consists of three steps: firstly, the identification of Excel skills which are already incorporated into degree's courses; secondly, the design of a logically ordered programme of tutorials throughout the courses; thirdly, the preparation of methodological notes for instructors teaching these course. The methodology is illustrated within the context of an undergraduate degree in tourism at the University of the Balearic Islands. Keywords:
