Abstract:
In the contemporary world, computer technologies are an essential factor for any progress in sustainable economic and social development. Technological changes are so rapid that if one is not prepared to face them, one will soon become obsolete in society. Davies et al. (2011) note that worker success in the labor market is linked to information and communications technologies (ICTs). In addition, the results of Picatoste et al. (2017) indicate that continuous ICTs training promotes the employment of students.

This project aims to improve the transition of the students of the Faculty of Tourism between the university and the labor market. To this end we implement in the educational process training sessions on contemporary computer solutions taught by Turistec professionals. Turistec (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) is an international cluster dedicated to Information and Communication Technologies applied to Tourism, and is known for the transversality of their technological innovation. A large number of companies that are part of it are positioned as leaders in data management that contributes to the sustainability of tourism sector. In addition, the organization is dynamic and incorporates new partners and new technological solutions continuously. Turistec's portfolio of clients and partners brings together the main tourist groups, SMEs in the sector, entrepreneurs, knowledge centers and entities dedicated to excellence and quality.

The World Tourism Organization has been pushing the tourism sector to contribute to the goal of meeting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Currently, tourism’s ability to move forward in several of the SDGs is more relevant than ever. Therefore, by familiarizing students of the Faculty of Tourism with contemporary computer technologies used in the sector we contribute to the fulfillment of SDGs 4. “Quality education”, 8. “Decent work and economic growth” and 12. Responsible production and consumption ”.
