Abstract:
In recent years, demand for mobile language learning applications have increased in the context of distance and blended learning. This paper discusses the process of Telegram chatbot creation as a component of the model of blended learning in a Business English course based on the material of the Market Leader Coursebook. It provides an overview of the role of mobile apps in personalization of the learning process in teaching English for professional purposes. The following factors can be considered as advantages of the distance learning of foreign languages through chatbots: human-like interactive experience, user's convenience, such as flexible class schedule, gamification, lack of subjective evaluation and judgement, and a wide choice of language materials. The Telegram chatbot is aimed at developing the communicative competence of low-level students of English. It sets out to involve students in purposeful tasks and encourage autonomous learning, self-monitoring and self-assessment.
