Abstract:
The period of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many areas of people's lives around the world in recent months. In the field of education, the approach to learning had to change not only for teachers but also for students. Students exchanged school premises with home environments, where online communication and tools for the distance form of study become the central element of the student-teacher connection. Many schools, educators, and students did not prepare for online education. This transition has caused considerable problems. This challenging period forced a change in the way of learning, the use of learning aids, and taught new possibilities of education. By switching to other tools used in the educational process, teachers, as well as students, had to acquire new skills - e. g. work with new software. Equally demanding can be the education of electrical engineering subjects, wherein the case of full-time study, students perform, among other things, measurements that teach them the principles of measurement, working with measuring devices and methods of processing measurement results. In practical form, they acquire laws and phenomena in electrical engineering. One of the ways to make these measurements available to students in an alternative form during this period is a simulation. Simulation is used very often in practice. Using a model that is created in a software environment and corresponds to the actual system, we can perform experiments (measurements). Simulations are used wherever is not possible to perform experiments on a real device (e. g. due to high costs or the absence of the actual system). This article explaining how to replace a simple measurement in the field of electrical engineering by creating a simulation scheme in MATLAB and MATLAB Simulink. In addition to understanding the principles of measuring and mastering the curriculum, the student acquires new skills with the use of MATLAB and MATLAB Simulink Software, as well as software designed for online communication.
