NEWS IN DIDACTIC TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE TEACHING OF MEDICAL BIOPHYSICS IN THE CONDITIONS OF COVID19 PANDEMIC

Abstract:
Nowadays, there is inevitable imperative to be prepared for realizing all educational activities on-line, i.e. if it is possible to use distance form of education. Information and communication technologies offer many available solutions. Some of them were used in the previous period at the Faculty of Medicine Comenius University in Bratislava: testing by the learning environment LMS Moodle, video conference system MS Teams, video records elaboration program OpenShot and commented Power Point presentations. All these electronic didactic aids help us to master difficult situation and keep the effectiveness of education, activate the student and introduce new motivational stimuli.

Microsoft Teams is a unified communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, distance testing and examination, file storage (including collaboration on files), and application integration.

On the selected sample of students, the MS Teams system was tested in distance exams on Medical Biophysics, including exam test in Moodle and oral exam. Connections were realized with Slovak and also foreign students studying in English. System allowed to communicate simultaneously with maximum 9 students.

Moodle is a software package for creating learning systems and electronic courses on the Internet. Moodle is provided free of charge as open source Learning Management System (LMS). The goal of Moodle is to provide teachers, administrators and students with a secure and integrated system creating a personalized learning environment.

Developed on pedagogical principles, Moodle is used for blended learning, distance education, testing, flipped classroom and other e-learning projects in schools, universities, workplaces and other sectors.

OpenShot Video Editor is open-source video editor, available on Linux, Mac, and Windows. OpenShot can create stunning videos, films, and animations with an easy-to-use interface and rich set of features.

Commented lectures and other presentations for teaching purposes are a matter of course.
All teachers of Faculty of Medicine Comenius University have a right to use products of ICT to support the teaching process and to communicate with students.

For next acad. year 2020/2021 the collection of video records for distance reaching is prepared. For correction and finalization of videos the application OpenShot is used. It allows additionally to edit, save commentary, add figures and texts.

All our PowerPoint presentations to practical experiments will be commented in Slovak and English.

The absolute advantage of using above mentioned software packages emerged in connection with the need for transition to a distance form of education.
Such teaching meets the attributes of modern education, it is effective, interesting, and provides students with many impulses to activate, motivate and raise their level of knowledge.
