Abstract:
The purpose of this report is to present the opportunities and position in the training of finance and accounting at the South- West University (SWU)"Neofit Rilski". At our university, the training in these master's programs is carried out for 30 years. In the beginning the number of students was very large (about four hundred people) now they are about one hundred and fifty. The trend of declining students' number has been very clear in the recent years. In this report we will analyze the reasons for the declining number of students and the policies pursued by our management and by all of us, so we can increase the interest and quality of education at our university.
The paper presents methodological study of the number of students in the Republic of Bulgaria and the educational policies undertaken to avoid the current crisis. It will be presented data from the rating system of the Republic of Bulgaria and the place of SWU in the ranking is compared to other universities. The Rating System collects and summarizes data on nearly 100 indicators that measure various aspects of the activities in higher education institutions, including the learning process, learning environment, social and administrative services, research, prestige, and the realization of graduates in the market of labour and regional significance. These indicators are formed on the basis of statistical data collected from various sources, including through sociological surveys.
As a result in this report we will show good practices and policies to improve the quality of education. The ways to study mathematical modeling and econometrics at the South- West University "Neofit Rilski" will be presented. It's no secret that most economics students are afraid of Maths. It will be shown how the problem related with the students' "fear of Maths" is dealed.
In this study, the focus is put on the experience and failures of teaching Finance and Accounting. In the report are offered several examples of the software products use in training and good practices of analyzing the stability of the banking system. These examples are made by students and PhD students.
The main conclusions drawn in the teaching of finance and accounting is that students should be prepared to work with practical tasks and not be mobile libraries. They must be able to solve practical problems and be able to use modern information products. Keywords:
