Abstract:
As educators, we are constantly in the mission to determine if our students understood a teaching point, mastered a lesson, or perhaps need extra help. In order to achieve this, educators from all subjects should constantly implement functional formative assessment strategies as a key element of teaching and learning.

If we want to successfully reach every single learner in our classroom, it is essential to adjust our teaching through frequent and routine assessment. Technology can play a crucial role in the implementation of effective formative assessment; when used right, digital tools will allow teachers to monitor individual student progress and adjust instruction according to students' needs. These tools can help teachers take formative assessment to the next level making it easy, practical and fun for both teachers and students.

In this session, participants will reflect on their own formative assessment practice and will learn new ways to implement routine assessment. I will share engaging ideas using a variety of free digital tools. Participants will discover the potential that technology has to implement formative assessment. in addition, I will explore pedagogical methodologies to conduct formative assessment that is meaningful and sustainable for teachers from any subject and teaching background.

Participants will leave the session equipped with a digital formative assessment toolkit that will allow them to leverage the power of technology to check for understanding in their classroom.
