Abstract:
Mobile technologies are one of the most widespread information and communication technologies in education today. The results of previous research show that mobile devices can have a positive impact on many aspects of the learning process (e.g. motivation, retention rates). For this reason, the authors of the paper ask whether these technologies can also be an effective tool for the development of communication competence. The target group of this research is primary school students (age 10-15 years). The paper presents the current status of the solution and the actual results of the conducted research. The authors aim to find out the possibilities of deliberate use of mobile touch devices (specifically tablets) for the development of communication competence. In the previous phase of the research, the authors, among other things, suggested possible ways in which mobile technologies can be incorporated into the process of developing communication competence. The aforementioned procedures are verified in the classroom, where the authors observed the degree of influence of mobile technologies on the development of communication competence. The research compares a control group that will receive lessons without the use of mobile technology and an experimental group that will develop communication skills with the support of mobile technology. The paper describes the design of the pilot research, i.e. the verification of the proposed procedures in the classroom and the results obtained so far. The paper presents partial results of the main research.
