Abstract:
The paper presents an example of our good practice - the descriptions of the first steps we have taken to create a comprehensive system of university teacher education in the field of Engineering Pedagogy at UNIZA (the University of Žilina). Our aim was to find out in what direction set this education in terms of content, scope and methods to develop teacher skills significantly. The content creation and the selection of methods in this programme must be embedded in a more comprehensive system of university education. In the paper, we present a more holistic view of what formed the basis for the establishment and implementation of this education for university teachers following current trends. We describe the benefits of shadowing the job of the team we cooperated with and the conclusions of the content analysis of the documents of the universities that inspired us. We also mention how we addressed the recommendations of EUA (the European University Association) in developing learning and teaching at the university. We offer the perspectives of a manager and a lecturer. Keywords:
University teachers, engineering pedagogy, good practice, lifelong learning, job shadowing, teaching at university.
