Abstract:
Our changing world raises two central challenges for the future. Firstly, we have to imagine new solutions to face the complexity of multiple crisis in multiple fields, such as finance, food, climate or politics… Secondly, we have to analyse, build and make decisions faster and faster to understand an all-connected world that daily creates an increasing amount of information at an increasing pace.

There is only one way to go and one simple answer: we need to adapt. And adapting requires creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration not taught at schools and universities today: “the 21st-century skills”. This exciting theory opens new perspectives and designs new ways of conceiving education via a simple idea: 21st-century students need different teaching from 20th-century teachers. Visionary philosophers and theorists such as Edgar Morin have already promoted this innovative path. And, emerging models like MOOCs, Open and Flipped Education, are already preparing this revolution in education.

Building on quality research and expert debates on education, neurosciences and design thinking, we propose an innovative model for universities which renews teaching methodology and environment. A model where the knowledge herited from teachers all around the world is shared, a model where the process of learning is supported by a dedicated environment, a model where everyone -teacher, student, citizen- can be part of creating a more desirable future.

Inspired by Palo Alto spirit, we designed learning labs to support active, collaborative and creative learning. We designed immersive atelier mixing people, creative tools, open educational resources and fun. And we tested this combination with different publics for different challenges in education: OpenEducationDays, CreativeDays… Each time we experienced Eureka moments and we know they are the best way to engage teachers and students even the most reticent to a new approach to their work. http://www.learninglab-network.com/

This session is an invitation to discover our Eureka Learning model and our nextwork. Let us inspire you to approach teaching differently and add a new perspective to your work.
