Abstract:
In this article we explore the connection between the globalization of knowledge worldwide and the quality of knowledge of the students from both the Bulgarian high-school educational system and university Bachelor degree students in Bulgaria. There have been done some researches about the influence of the mentioned factors on the requirements towards the content of specialized technical disciplines of Bachelor degree in relevant directions in the Centre of Informatics and Technical Sciences (CITS), Bourgas Free University (BFU), Bourgas.
There has been done a short introduction in the theme. We have specified some of the reasons which lead us to this research, as well as, we have quoted studies which are the basis set for this paper. The results of these studies are summarized. There are some concrete suggestions made and measures taken for the improvement of the education.
Researches have been done in more than 85 educational institutions in the city of Bourgas and the region around it. We have included more than 2500 students who are studying in the last two grades of high school and from different lines of study. The tests and the tasks that the students were asked to do, were chosen according to the lane of study of the particular school and cover fields of science like mathematics, informatics, electrotechnics, electronics and general education.
This research also includes students from Bachelor degree in universities who study in the lines of „Informatics and computer sciences”, “Computer sciences and technologies” and “Communication technics and technologies” in BFU, Bourgas. The period of the researches is between the year of 2006 and 2011.
There has been taken in mind the specificity of the Bulgarian educational system in the context of the development of the country during the last 20 years. We have taken in mind the economical, financial and demographic crisis during this period, as well.
Gathering together of different factors lead students to lack of fundamental knowledge in physics, chemistry, mathematics, informatics, electronics, etc and also affects the ability of fully mastering the matter in basic disciplines in Bachelor degree.
The results of the analyses show that there is a great imbalance between the traditional way of teaching and the expectations of the students for the way of teaching them.
A big part of the students and school leavers are well informed when using Google and other search engines. They are good in finding and sharing information in Wikipedia and YouTube and in virtual communication like Skype, Facebook and others. When they take part in different kinds of forums, it makes them feel that they could find any kind of information in internet with ease. Very often student to use forums, different acquaintance opinions and even paid information in their process of study. But it is quite often as well, when this information is not fully true or even false, but it still makes students feel that they have acquired some knowledge.
In conclusion, in this article we have made some proposals for increasing the quality of the knowledge that students receive. Keywords:
