Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) significantly impacts both our personal and professional lives today. Understanding AI basics is vital in higher education. Its integration into general education, especially in liberal arts universities, is critical in reshaping education and nurturing competent citizens for the 21st century. Urgent attention is needed to find effective ways to make this integration happen. This paper explores various aspects of integrating AI into general education curriculum, aiming to highlight its importance, explore different approaches, address significant challenges, and propose a conceptual framework. This integration aims to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness, pave pathways to successful careers, and enrich students' lives in numerous ways.

The paper explores various approaches, such as inter-discipline programs and hands-on experiences in integrating AI into university curricula. It addresses challenges faced in this integration, such as faculty readiness, resource allocation, and ethical considerations. To counter these challenges, an adaptable conceptual framework for integrating AI into the liberal arts curriculum is proposed. This framework aims to merge AI technical skills with critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and inventive problem-solving to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness, pave pathways toward professional success, and enrich students' lives from multiple angles.

In conclusion, this paper emphasizes the importance, varied approaches, and challenges associated with integrating AI into liberal arts education. It suggests a conceptual framework to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness, create avenues for successful careers, and enrich students' lives diversely in the 21st century.
