Abstract:
The first information about the COVID-19 pandemic occurred in Slovak media in January 2020. After confirmation of the first positive patient with COVID-19 on the territory of Slovakia, the Central Crisis Staff was established. Its task was/is to monitor the situation and to take action to stop spreading disease between the Slovak population. One of the first actions from march 12th 2020 was that from Monday march 16th 2020 all nursery schools, primary schools, secondary schools, universities, and all free-time clubs and spaces will be closed.
In this phase of development of the situation, distance education wasn't necessary, since teachers gave pupils/students homework for two weeks. Since the situation did not improve and new epicenters started to occur, the action was taken according to which education in all types of schools will be in distant form, because it was impossible to guess the course of the pandemic in Slovakia. Even though nursery schools, primary schools, and secondary schools gradually started to open in the second half of June, universities continued to educate, take exams, and final state exams in distant forms. The unexpected change from a present form of education to a distance posed a great challenge for teachers as well as students.
Teachers from the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra are using university educational portal EDU for several years. Never before it was used as the only form of education, since the education of students in normally performed in the present form. It was used only in addition to further explain issues with which students get acquainted in lectures, exercises, and seminars.
In this paper, we present experiences with using educational platform Moodle in course Technical Drawing, which is specifically aimed and difficult to master the necessary knowledge and skills by students. These knowledge and skills are needed to make a technical drawing. Sample for this research were students studying courses: Teacher Training of Technical Training, Safety and Health protection at work, Teacher Training of Partial Education. We checked up the effectivity of distance education by comparing partial and complete results with results from previous years (educated in present form).
