Abstract:
This paper is part of a larger study of professionals resilience who are working insight the educational center in Romania as part of the criminal justice system for minors and young offenders.

The educational centers provide access to education for minors and young people who carry out an educational measure depriving them of their liberty, in order to optimize the chances of social reintegration, through the development of skills, abilities and personal development. The purpose is to reintegrate them into society and making them responsible, in order to assume their own actions and prevent new crimes.

The research topic was generated by the changes imposed by the effects of the SARS CoV-2 pandemic virus (COVID-19) which introduced new regulations and working methods in the functioning of the custodial facilities for minors and young offenders.

In this context, has become a priority to modernize most of the recuperative and educative intervention by adapting to the dynamic and new social requirements.

Our research is of a qualitative type and was conducted based on the 8 semi-structured interviews with teachers, educators and top managers from the educational center in the western part of Romania. These type of centers are social entities specific to the criminal justice system for juveniles and young offenders, facilities that need to acquire specific capacities for adaptation and response, to support the social reintegration of its beneficiaries. These adaptive skills are the basic ingredients of social resilience. The purpose of this research is to open new perspectives for the development and adaptation of human resources in the custodial environment, responsible for the social reintegration of minors and young offenders and to offer some practical connection with social resilience in this context. Findings are discussed in relation with the international literature and implications for practice are proposed.
