Abstract:
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015. This Agenda sets out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Spain, Royal Decree 822/2021 (RD822/21) was also adopted in 2021, establishing that professionals coming from universities must be able to lead transformations in line with the SDGs.

This paper presents the work developed in 3 subjects of the Computer Science degree at the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, in order to know the level of knowledge of students about the SDGs in the context of their profession. A survey based on a simple questionnaire was carried out to determine this degree of knowledge. The questionnaire asks about the knowledge of the SDGs, their different actions and which actions the students consider that can be worked on in the subject. The survey is carried out in the middle of the semester. Students are not informed about the survey, nor do they have a specific session or activity related to SDGs prior to the survey.

The subjects take place in the seventh semester and cover all four degree curricular specializations: Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technologies. Thus, all students on the semester can fulfill the survey. The number of students enrolled in these subjects is 80. After this semester, students must complete a 300-hour work placement in a company and begin the final degree dissertation.

The outcome of the study is to determine the students’ degree of knowledge about SDGs and to prepare future specific actions for academic year 2023/24, to improve students' attitude and knowledge about SDGs. A set of specific activities in the subjects are being prepared to achieve this outcome: after an initial session to introduce the SDGs, the idea is to focus some of the class activities on making students aware of the SDGs and how they can apply them in their professional development to improve or achieve the goals of the SDGs.
