Abstract:
This study examined the effectiveness of integrating Active Learning (AL) strategies, Personalized Learning (PL), and Blended Learning (BL) approaches, alongside the incorporation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools such as Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Classroom Support Platforms (CSP), within the context of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes. Currently, AL strategies are being extensively researched, and positive results have been identified in their effective implementation. The transition to online class delivery due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with students engaging in PL, has presented challenges for the effective usage of AL strategies. Additionally, the move towards online classes has made it clear that variations in teachers' ICT literacy levels have a direct impact on the quality and content of these classes. Consequently, there emerged a critical need to examine effective AL strategies for integrating ICT into ESP classes to enhance PL effectively. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, classes were conducted using a BL approach, combining traditional face-to-face instruction with online components. Considering this transition in class delivery methods, it is essential to assess the effective utilization of ICT in PL and BL approaches to determine the best combination of teaching strategies, pedagogical approaches. The aim of this research is gaining insights for designing an effective ESP course, integrating ICT within diverse learning approaches, and employing active learning methods tailored to students' aptitudes. Quantitative data were collected and analyzed using pre- and post-tests to evaluate students' proficiency and performance in both PL and BL. Additionally, qualitative data were gathered through course evaluations conducted upon the completion of the courses. The results indicate that PL, such as an online on-demand course, can be equally effective as a traditional face-to-face course when ICT and teachers' instructions, incorporating AL strategies, are well-designed. The outcomes of this research highlight the significance of considering the effective use of ICT, along with teaching strategies, pedagogical approaches, and students' aptitudes, when designing an effective ESP course. Keywords:
