Abstract:
Entrepreneurship is one of the main competencies to guarantee success in the future and in the labor market, therefore it has to be knowledgeably developed. Major niche for this development is through vocational standards as these are the basis for the vocational education, applied sciences and higher education curricula and competency focuses. Entrepreneurship competency is an integrated sum of knowledge, skills, motivation, and values which are needed for successful coping in the society and it is important for all citizens, not only entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship competency is applicable to all fields and is focused on individuals' personal development, active participation in society of entering the labor market as a worker or an employee.

The main objective of the article is to analyze how much the vocational standards reflect the importance of entrepreneurship competence among 2-5 EQF levels professions and make recommendations for the improvement of vocational standards and through that promote the importance of the teaching of the entrepreneurship competence in education.

The method of content analysis was used to assess the standards according to the chosen keyword categories.

The results show the very modest prevalence of chosen keywords in the second and third level standards with a positive trend in higher level standards. There are remarkable differences between the prevalence of word categories as well as between types of selected standards. Standards are very heterogeneous with marked discrepancies between competencies described and used. Discrepancies start already in the beginnings of standards (work description, work environment and so on) and continue through the whole text, occasionally limiting or obscuring the purpose and objective of the standards.

Study results were used to compose several suggestions to improve the quality of standards used for the development of study programmes and curricula and also to maximize the prevalence and use of entrepreneurship competencies in professional standards.
